Last Year on June 13, 2015, BTST Services hosted our 2nd annual Summer Training Conference where this year’s theme was “Agents of Change.” The focus of the training was to empower our counselors and staff and to equip them with additional tools needed to be more effective agents of change. Upon arrival everyone received their special agent badge, uniform (BTST t-shirt), agent tool box which included: planners, pens, note pads, intervention books, and more. The message was that not everyone has what it takes, but it requires a special agent to bring about the change needed in our client’s lives, families and communities. The training continued with the presentation of 3 dynamic presenters which included, (1) Solution Focused Treatment by Dr. Maxwell Manning, (2) De-escalation Strategies by Bryan Clements, LCSW-C, and (3) Compassion Fatigue by Mike Allen.
Along with the trainings, staff were able to engage in ice breakers, team building activities and an award ceremony that honored tenured staff, all-star counselors, and those who have been licensed within the last year of work with BTST. The training concluded with a “State of the Union” address from our Program Director who reiterated and honed in on the mission of being change agents, along with laying out a plan for BTST’s future.
In all, the training was a huge success and everyone enjoyed the experience.
